Case study

Two businesses, two custom systems.

One client, two very different businesses, and one requirement running through both: no one-size-fits-all bloat. He'd outgrown what off-the-shelf software and his existing setup could do — but he didn't want a sprawling generic platform either. He wanted lean, secure systems built to fit exactly what each business needed, and extensible enough that he could keep growing them himself.

Business 01 — Digital products

An online e-book store

A complete custom system to run the business end to end — lean where he wanted lean, and extensible where he wanted room to grow. The opposite of a bloated platform he'd have to bend his business around.

What I built

  • A dynamic, customer-facing website that sells the e-books.
  • Secure, custom-watermarked PDF e-books — each copy is generated as a PDF personalized with the buyer's own watermark, so a shared copy traces back to its buyer instead of circulating anonymously.
  • An extensible content system at the heart of it: the owner adds new content himself, and that content carries hooks that pull live data and run custom tasks — so the system grows without a developer in the loop for every change.
  • Automated, template-based emails across the customer lifecycle.
  • Reports and a complete back-office to see and run the business.
  • Payment integration through PayPal and Stripe.
Business 02 — Physical production

A custom-ingredient food company

A completely different business with a completely different problem: production and traceability. Phase 1 was a secure back-office system that tracks the operation from raw material to finished product — the foundation the rest grows on.

What I built — Phase 1

  • Ingredient tracking, including expiration dates.
  • Batches, from raw materials through production.
  • Finished products, traceable back to their batches and ingredients.
  • Fully integrated barcode scanning and custom labels, so production runs on scans and prints instead of manual logs.
  • Built securely, as Phase 1 of an ongoing system.
What it shows

The system your business runs on — built to fit.

Two businesses that couldn't be more different — digital products and physical food production — each running on a custom system built to fit exactly how it works. Lean, secure, extensible, and built end to end by the person who designed it.

That's the core of what Fletcher's Software does: not a generic platform you adapt to, but the system your business actually runs on.

In the client's words

I had the pleasure of working with Loren Fletcher of Fletcher Software on two custom web development projects: an ebook website and an internal production management website.

Loren did an excellent job understanding the unique needs of my business and building solutions that went beyond what standard websites typically offer. He was able to implement several highly customized features, including automatic QR code generation and label printing through a label printer, which helped streamline our production workflow.

For the ebook website, Loren also developed a watermarking feature for the ebooks I was selling, adding an extra layer of copyright protection and professionalism to the customer experience.

Throughout the projects, Loren demonstrated strong technical ability, creativity, and a willingness to solve problems that were outside the ordinary scope of typical website development. I would recommend Fletcher Software to anyone looking for a developer who can build practical, customized solutions for their business.
