Founder · Fletcher's Software

Hi, I'm Loren Fletcher.

I've been writing software for over a decade. Today I build the custom web-based systems growing businesses run on — internal tools, web apps, and the software that replaces the spreadsheet — and I'm developing FS Designer, the first step toward a toolkit I'm calling Intent Driven Software Development.

Why I do this

The bigger purpose behind the work.

Underneath the client work and the products, I'm after something specific: making computers more intelligent. Intent Driven Software Development is the long version of that idea — software that understands what you're trying to build, not just the keystrokes you type. FS Designer is the first step toward it, and I built FS Tracker for the same purpose — both are pieces of the same effort to make the tools we work in smarter and more aware of what we actually mean. Every project I take on teaches me a little more about how to get there.

But building better software isn't the whole reason I run this business. My faith asks something concrete of me, and I take it seriously: to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and afflicted, as we're directed to do in the scriptures. So I give a portion of what this business earns to those causes.

That's part of why your project matters to me beyond the invoice. Good work done well is how the business grows — and the more it grows, the more good it can do. When you hire me, you're helping fund some of that too.

My background

A long road through different languages.

I have a Computer Information Systems degree from DeVry and a career that's followed the platforms as they shifted. I started building software in 4D on the Macintosh, then moved to Delphi, then C# and .Net. Today I work primarily in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node — with Python, SQL, and AI tooling alongside.

What runs through all of it is the same instinct: build the thing carefully, test it, ship it, then make it better. The languages change. The discipline doesn't.

Fletcher's Software is the studio I've been working toward. It's still small and steadily growing — and every project I take on gets the full attention of someone who's been doing this for a long time. There's no team to hand the work off to. You get me.

Alongside client work, I'm building two products, both in alpha.

The first is FS Designer, a precise 2D vector design tool — and the first piece of what I'm calling Intent Driven Software Development: a connected toolkit for designing apps, websites, and information systems — interface, code, database, and AI design in one place — that exports cleanly to all major languages and platforms.

The second is FS Tracker, a project and time management app for solo studios and small teams. Projects, phases, calendars, todos, and the hours you spend on them — in one place. I built it because the tools I tried didn't fit, and it now runs my own work.

How I work

What working together looks like.

Talk directly

You work with the person building the software — no account managers, no handoffs to junior staff. If something is unclear or the scope shifts, we figure it out together.

Built to last

I'd rather take an extra day to do something correctly than ship something that has to be rewritten. The goal is software you can live with for years, not weeks.

Honest scope

I'll tell you what's worth building, what isn't, and why — even when that makes the project smaller. The result you need matters more than the invoice.
